St Helens Recs U11s Vs Sutton CC U11s - LEAGUE MATCH - 5th August 2008

Tonight saw the 11s make the short journey to Recs. Slight drizzle and overcast skies made us think the game wouldn’t go ahead, but congratulations to the 2 coaches as they got a game in. A win tonight would see Sutton CC crowned as CHAMPIONS, a draw was good enough to secure the title as well. With Highfield Golds playing Newton tonight, a win was vital for Sutton.

Joe won the toss and asked Recs to bat 1st. Recs ended on a total of 227 from their 15 overs. Sutton took 5 wickets which helped to keep the score down.

Sutton, have knocked that many runs off on many an occasion this season, so expectations were high. But tonight was not to be Suttons night, the %100 run in the league was ended in the final game of the season.

The lads walked off with glum looks, Highfield Golds could still end up on the same number of points as Sutton. Would it go to Run Rate ? Head To Head ? Win Percentage ? We would just have to wait and see how Highfield Golds got on.

Sutton had lost 3 games to bad weather, so that was a possible 6 points gone begging (we may have won those 3 games we may have not). Highfield Golds had been lucky not having lost a game to the weather this season.

Gaz & Ian Duke were making calls to see if anyone knew the score of the Highfield Golds Vs Newton game.

Then news filtered through, that the game had been cancelled. RESULT.

SUTTON CC 11s WIN THE LEAGUE.

We would have liked to win the title with a win, but credit must go to Recs. Coaches, parents, and players. After a terrible start to the season, the children and their coaches have worked very hard in training, and are now a force to be reckoned with. Well done to Recs, and good luck for next season.

The 11s rollercoaster has stopped for this season, and most of the children step up to 13s cricket next year.

We hope all you parents continue to support the children, see you all next year.
